Turmeric has been shown to support joint mobility, digestion, and circulation, among other bodily processes.
Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant.
However, the curcumin content of turmeric is not that high. It’s around 3%, by weight (see below how we combat this problem).
HOW IS OUR BLEND DIFFERENT FROM TRADITIONAL GOLDEN MILK POWDER BLENDS?
Our focus at Homestead Holistics is health! So in our golden milk powder blend, in addition to traditional turmeric powder, we also use turmeric powder EXTRACT. Traditional turmeric powder (on the spice aisle) contains approximately 3% curcuminoid content. Whereas the powder extract we use, that percentage is increased to nearly 95%!
We also add black pepper to our golden milk powder blend to increase the bioavailability of the curcumin. The piperine in the black pepper helps increase absorption of the curcumin by up to 2,000%! It is also fat soluable, which makes golden milk a great way to ingest turmeric!

JUST ADD “MILK”
Choose a high fat milk for better absorption of curcumin. Coconut, almond, cashew, hazelnut or macadamia milk are top choices. Whole dairy milk, raw milk and oat milk also work well.
- Whisk 1/2 tsp. golden milk powder with 1.5 cups (12oz) milk of choice in a small saucepan.
- Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat. Turn heat to low and allow to simmer for couple of minutes, and up to 10 minutes to increase solubility of curcumin. Whisk vigorously, occasionally.
- Enjoy while hot (pour in a mug and stir in honey or other sweetener of choice) or put in refrigerator to cool then serve over ice.
